Back and Neck Pain
80% of people suffer from back pain at some point in their lives and is the most common complaint we see in our clinic. Our priority is to identify the root cause of the back pain and determine if there is true structural damage to the surrounding tissues including the muscles, bones, discs, ligaments, joints, and nerves. Without the presence of any true structural “Damage” pain is attributed to the solution the Brain and Nervous System have created to protect you (Often due to Past Injuries).
The pain experienced in the lower back can come about for many reasons. Pain can be specific or spread across the lower back and into the buttocks.
Structural causes of back pain can be disc herniation, osteoarthritis, ligament strain, muscular spasm, and fractures, these are only a few of the main causes. Lower back pain can be felt as stiffness, weakness, aches, sharp pain in movement, pain on standing, pain in sitting, pain in getting up, and trouble climbing up and down stairs.
Back Pain is often harmless, and even if you have been told you have:
- Wear and Tear
- Arthritis
- Degeneration
- Stenosis
- Disc Prolapses
Many processes can be utilised to help with managing and progressing symptoms. In fact, the majority of the population will have all of these findings, with the absence of Pain.
As with any pain the sooner you get an appointment at Governing Function Osteopathy Clinic, the sooner you will have a clear diagnosis and we can start mapping out your road to recovery.
